Description

When writing, I like to be very clear about whose point of view the narration is following at the moment. In my novel, which is written in close 3rd person (basically, narration in the he/she mode, with no access to thoughts or senses beyond what the current POV character knows or senses), I only change POV at chapter breaks, and I always try to signal who the new POV character is by giving the reader something in the first or second sentence (first is better) that is unmistakably from that character's perspective - some reaction, action, or observation on their part. It's not some rule that you have to be so strict about POV swaps, but you do want to be clear about them, and do them on purpose.

In SF so far, I've worked from all three characters' POV's (mostly Kerry). Here, we're following Ollie, even though we don't see any of his thoughts; I tried to signal this by leaving out Kerry and Jo's conversation. It's probably not important anyway.
